It’s December 26th, and the timing of this post could not come at a better moment. Who ate too much??! Who is resolving to kick their health goals up a notch or two in the new year? Us too. We’re so glad we visited Patti Garland a couple of weeks ago to get the full Healthy Methods Wellness treatment! This included a workout (which we can easily do at home), a talk about nutrition, and fascia blasting. We didn’t know what this was either, but we found out!

RIDE indoor cycling studio caught our attention when we were making one of our many trips up and down Route 202. Located in New Preston in a very cool red barn – the RIDE sign (with a good font), plus their fun Instagram account were all that was needed to pique our curiosity. Additionally, the fact that we seem to do 10 food features to every fitness feature…it was time to feel the burn!!

And as we discovered, if torching calories is your aim, and you want to get the best bang for your buck (and time)…indoor cycling is the way to go! We gathered a few of our Unlocking Litchfield friends together to have the RIDE indoor cycling experience with us (safety in numbers)…

Salvatore Anthony Hair Studio, located in one of Litchfield County’s prettiest villages (New Preston), opened for business in April. Acting as Litchfield County’s Welcome Wagon, we visited Sal for a little “getting to know you” session! We were also in need of a really good hair day for our J. Seitz & Co. fashion shoot, so things worked out perfectly.

Sal’s Aveda hair studio is elegant (cashmere drapes and leather clad shelves), modern, and comfortable. A handsome, huggable, and talented hair colorist/stylist, Sal divides his time between NYC (where he is a Master Stylist at the Scott J. Salon) and his studio in New Preston (find him there by appointment Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).

We yelled out our questions over the noise of the dryer…here’s what we think we heard… 😉

Ahh, J. Seitz & Co., what a beauty of a store. Every single thing is pleasing to the eye! From the store, to being in the cutest of towns (New Preston), to the merchandise they carry. Oh, and the most awesome waterfall just outside at the back of the store. On an Instagram/Pinterest aesthetic rating of 1 to 10, it’s a 9.5.

J. Seitz & Co. is celebrating their 30th year in business and happens to be a bit of an institution in Litchfield County. A long-established destination store, they carry just about everything: women’s and men’s fashion, baby clothing, gifts, home furnishings, accessories, jewelry…and the list goes on. One-stop exquisite shopping.

Come with us and we’ll show you around…as we so enjoy doing!

Today’s fashion post is brought to you by J. Seitz & Co., located in the extremely picturesque town of New Preston. Amanda Seitz, store co-owner, and F.I.T. graduate put together these amazing outfits for us! Enjoy a little virtual shopping, and plan a trip in the near future. Can’t get there anytime soon? You can also order by phone ☎️

Hair styled by Salvatore Anthony Hair Studio (learn more about him later this week!) and shot on location around New Preston.

Have you made lunch plans yet? Are you in the vicinity of New Preston, CT? If your answer is no, followed by yes, then get yourself along to 9 Main Bakery and Cafe for a lil’ something fresh and delicious. Enjoy the zen of lunching in such a picturesque town and knowing that you are in good eating company, Hillary and Bill Clinton stopped by last summer, and Martha Stewart was there picking up some lunch just last week.

Welcome! Here it is, our very first blog post, and of course, if you know us at all, you won’t be surprised to hear it’s about food!

Unlocking Litchfield had the pleasure of being invited along to The White Horse Country Pub & Restaurant in Marbledale, CT. If you have ever driven by, you’ll know the place is extremely popular. Reservations are highly recommended, but you could also get lucky if you just pop in. Folks come from hours away to enjoy the food and atmosphere The White Horse provides, and after our visit there, we completely understand why.
