We enjoyed Sheila Nevins’ book, You Don’t Look Your Age…and Other Fairy Tales so much that we bought it twice! Once, on Audible, because that’s how we roll, and because the cast of famous readers were too much to resist! Christine Baranski, Meryl Streep, RuPaul, Gloria Steinem, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rosie O’Donnell, to name just a few. The second time we bought it was in hardcover, for Sheila to sign when we went to meet her at her gorgeous Litchfield home. Over the course of the evening, we discussed the book, life in Litchfield County, the acceptance of aging…and other fairy tales.

This week’s #WCW is Sheila Nevins!

Frontman and singer-songwriter for the Platinum-selling, 90s alternative rock band, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Glen Phillips heads to Infinity Hall Norfolk on April 7th with “nothing but six strings, the truth and that one-a-kind voice,” according to the IH website.  You know the hits, “All I Want,” “Walk on the Ocean,” “Something’s Always Wrong,” “Fall Down,” and much more! Read our interview with him below…

Bethany Watson is a co-host on the extremely popular iHeartRADIO “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” which has millions of listeners tuning in every day. Bethany is also a kindred spirit. She is never without a coffee in hand…and if she is, then there’s a cocktail in its place. She keeps us up-to-date with the news and what’s trending, and can be (self-admittedly) totally nerdy (she does a piece on the morning show called Hip Hop Clarinet).

Lora knew Bethany from a previous photoshoot, so we said, “Hey Bethany, we’re going to be in the city, can we come visit you at the studio and ask you a bunch of random questions?” to which she replied, “Suuuuure, come on over!” She’s super nice like that.

MOMIX is an internationally acclaimed dance company based in Washington Depot. We joined Choreographer and Artistic Director Moses Pendleton and Associate Director Cynthia Quinn at their home, also in Washington Depot, for a fireside chat.

Moses Pendleton impressed us with his passion and enthusiasm about pretty much every topic we spoke about. We both left the interview inspired and seeing nature and our surroundings in a slightly different perspective. Moses and MOMIX will do that to you!

Teresa Dufour is the morning traffic reporter for WTNH News 8’s Good Morning Connecticut and co-hosts CT Style. We’ve been watching Teresa since 2006 when she was on WFSB Channel 3 as their morning traffic reporter and correspondent on Better Connecticut, a daily lifestyle show.

It’s becoming apparent that we have a “thing” for our local news station personalities. We’re kind of in awe of them. They get up every morning and go on camera, composed, and engaging. Not to mention they have to pick out a different outfit every day. We asked Teresa all about that kind of stuff. That, and questions about love, shopping, family, and Thanksgiving.

Teresa and her husband Brandon (entrepreneur/The Next Street) and son Dante (17 months) live in Middlebury. We crossed the LC border and headed over to Teresa’s house to hang out for the day. Teresa’s mom was Dante sitting. Thanks, Mom!

Lora’s new sister-in-law, Esme, tipped us off to Lilac Girls, a novel by Martha Hall Kelly. She told us there was a strong link to Litchfield County in the book, and maybe we’d be interested in it. We were, so we each downloaded the Audible and about 2 days later Lora was done and told me she loved it, and about 3 weeks later I was able to say ditto. Lora’s a fast listener.

Today we’re at home with Orthodontist Adam Goodman, DMD, at his weekend abode in Washington.

After recently moving into the area and spending several weekends, Dr. Goodman was pleasantly surprised to bump into some of his patients. Occasionally he will deliver an Invisalign aligner or clip a poking orthodontic wire right from his Washington home, or even make a house call!  We headed over like Welcome Wagon and talked about teeth, life in Litchfield County, movies, and Invisalign. Dr. G has been fitting Invisalign since it launched in 1999 and travels the country training other dentists and orthodontists in the artistry of giving patients the perfect smile!

Nancy Novogrod has had an impressive career as an editor in the magazine world. First, as Editor-in-Chief of House & Garden, and then for twenty years as Editor-in-Chief of Travel + Leisure magazine. The places she must have gone, done, seen!

Nancy and her husband split their time between New York and Kent…which is a good thing because we most certainly wanted to visit the home of somebody so well traveled! We’re willing to guess that being the EIC of Travel + Leisure would involve a fair bit of world commuting.

Also, we had questions…

If you’re a jazz/jazz fusion lover, then you definitely know Spyro Gyra. These guys have released 31 albums, been playing for 40+ years, and have performed over 5,000 shows. They’ve also sold over 10 million albums, with one platinum and two gold records. We’re a bit impressed, to say the least! They’re headed to Infinity Hall in Norfolk on October 22nd. We were excited to chat with Jay Beckenstein, founding member and bandleader…
