Our visit to Thorncrest Farm & Milk House Chocolates in Goshen has ruined us forever. Known for their “single cow’s milk” chocolates, we have never tasted anything like it (and we’ve tasted our fair share in our lifetimes)! The chocolates sold at their off-the-beaten-path chocolate shop are out of this world.

In fact, you will not find chocolate made the way Thorncrest makes it anywhere else in the world. As you’ll read in our many fascinating tidbits we learned during our visit, the Thorn family will stop at nothing to make the very best, freshest chocolate you will ever have!

This post is for all the fine-haired women out there. And I mean, fine. Hair hangs like fluff around your face. You have to load your hair with product for it to maintain any kind of style. Hair doesn’t stay in a part, it falls wherever it wants, or, whichever way the wind blows it.

All my life I’ve wished for thick, swishy hair. I’m not even talking Pantene-ad thick, just a ponytail that’s thicker than the size of my pinky. See exhibits a, b, and c below.

When we met Scott Bond, celebrity hairstylist, I confided in him this longing of mine, telling him that he could give me the best cut and color of my life, but I’d still have super fine hair. Scott told me I could stop wishing and start believing because he was going to give me the thick hair of my dreams…

His name is Bond, Scott Bond…and he’s a celebrity hairstylist, living in Litchfield County on occasion – when he’s not jetting off to style hair in NY, LA, or London.

We drove to Goshen and knocked on his door one cold winter day not long ago, (we were invited, honest) and asked him to use his Edward Scissorhands on our mops.

Watch Scott in action, and check out the end results – we’ll call this episode of Unlocking Litchfield – “Lora and Bev get fancy new dos.”

Swirl, smell, swish, savor (or swallow). Oh yeah…it’s wine tasting time!

You may have noticed that wine seems to make its way into most of our stories; visits to boutiques, cheese shops, even house tours; somehow we find a way to incorporate our favorite beverage. We are wine appreciators.

I’d heard about the great local vineyards we have around us in Litchfield County, but never took the time to visit. Now I ask myself, what the heck was I waiting for, a written invitation?! Well, we got one, in the form of an email. Maria Miranda invited Unlocking Litchfield to come on up to Goshen to see what they’re all about, and of course, taste.
