Neither of us had ever been to a life coach before our session with Tal Fusion. We weren’t even sure what kind of issues people bring to life coaches! So, we showed up with only our preconceived ideas. For me, a Brit, I thought I’d end up talking about feelings and cry…and Lora thought she’d talk about feelings and laugh hysterically. Not the case at all. As we learned from Tal, life coaching is not therapy; it’s mostly “helping people get out of their own way.” Who can’t use some of that in their lives?!

During our rainy drive north to Sharon, CT to take a Kinesoma class and meet Sandrine Harris, the founder of the program, we realize that neither of us really have any idea what we’re about to do! We haven’t had time to do our research, but we do know there will be elements of movement and dance. So, we arrive with open minds and our usual sense of adventure (and humor)!

We asked Pilar DeMann of Pilar’s Mobile Beauty to kindly shape our brows and provide her mad makeup skills for a fashion shoot we had lined up with Workshop Inc.

She’s quickly become known as the “Brow Queen of Litchfield County.” Pilar does brows at Joe’s Salon, she does brows in your home, and she’ll even do brows in the parking lot (if your kid happens to go to the same school)!

These are the many faces of cryotherapy! What is cryotherapy, you ask? Well, we had the same question. Lucky for us, our friend Charis Wipfler owner of Grace Medical Aesthetics is the first to bring whole body cryotherapy to Connecticut and asked us to come along to check it out.

Knowing not much more about cryotherapy other than it being the latest thing in celebrityville, and that loads of top sports athletes swear by it, we decided to give it a whirl. We brought along Lora’s husband Michael for a male POV….and to go first!

The Spa at Litchfield Hills ladies wrote us explicit instructions on how to use the products they sent us after our appeal to them for help – which went something like this:

Dear friends at The Spa at Litchfield Hills,

Our skin is dusty and wintery, our hands rough and leather like…We have zero, zilch, nada time to come to your beautiful spa for the day (though we intend to make time soon 😉 ). Please send supplies for us to do-it-ourselves.

Love, your dry and crispy friends,

Unlocking Litchfield xo

Salvatore Anthony Hair Studio, located in one of Litchfield County’s prettiest villages (New Preston), opened for business in April. Acting as Litchfield County’s Welcome Wagon, we visited Sal for a little “getting to know you” session! We were also in need of a really good hair day for our J. Seitz & Co. fashion shoot, so things worked out perfectly.

Sal’s Aveda hair studio is elegant (cashmere drapes and leather clad shelves), modern, and comfortable. A handsome, huggable, and talented hair colorist/stylist, Sal divides his time between NYC (where he is a Master Stylist at the Scott J. Salon) and his studio in New Preston (find him there by appointment Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).

We yelled out our questions over the noise of the dryer…here’s what we think we heard… 😉

This post is for all the fine-haired women out there. And I mean, fine. Hair hangs like fluff around your face. You have to load your hair with product for it to maintain any kind of style. Hair doesn’t stay in a part, it falls wherever it wants, or, whichever way the wind blows it.

All my life I’ve wished for thick, swishy hair. I’m not even talking Pantene-ad thick, just a ponytail that’s thicker than the size of my pinky. See exhibits a, b, and c below.

When we met Scott Bond, celebrity hairstylist, I confided in him this longing of mine, telling him that he could give me the best cut and color of my life, but I’d still have super fine hair. Scott told me I could stop wishing and start believing because he was going to give me the thick hair of my dreams…

His name is Bond, Scott Bond…and he’s a celebrity hairstylist, living in Litchfield County on occasion – when he’s not jetting off to style hair in NY, LA, or London.

We drove to Goshen and knocked on his door one cold winter day not long ago, (we were invited, honest) and asked him to use his Edward Scissorhands on our mops.

Watch Scott in action, and check out the end results – we’ll call this episode of Unlocking Litchfield – “Lora and Bev get fancy new dos.”
