Calling all Vintage Hunters!! – and yes, that’s a thing. I Googled, “what do you call a person who loves the hunt for vintage treasures?” and it said, “Vintage Hunter.” Duh. If you’re a vintage hunter, or just a lover of boutiques with lots of cool treasures both new and old, the discovery of a fresh new “source,” is always exciting.
Rising Sun Vintage Boutique is relatively new on the Litchfield County scene, having opened in September 2014 (Happy Anniversary!) by Colleen Colangelo. In her early 20s, she was determined to beat her dad to business ownership and did so by a year.
The boutique is small but well curated, Colleen carries a nice variety of vintage clothes and hats, antiques, hand knit items, jewelry both vintage and locally made, bath and beauty products and some awesome chachkies.
The fact that the building itself used to be a chicken coop (think really big chicken coop) just adds to the magical toy box feel. We had a fun afternoon with Colleen, playing dress up and trying on hats and dresses from by-gone eras.
We loved this little jacket on Lora.
There’s a ton of vinyl, which Colleen admits to not having thoroughly researched – so if you collect records – there could be some gems, just saying.
Don’t you love this 1950s Fitbit?
Rising Sun Vintage Boutique is part of a collection of shops called The Cove on Bantam Road (Route 202). Colleen’s neighbors include a bakery, a gallery, a pet supply store and a massage therapy office.
Colleen is so sweet and friendly and loves chatting with her customers. Go see what’s behind the yellow door and say hi!
